Insured services:

ALL patients with Alberta Health Care coverage, regardless of age, are now covered for any urgent care or emergency care visit at our office.  Please call and inform our receptionist of the nature of your vision disturbance to ensure it will be covered.  (These covered visits do not include prescriptions for glasses) You are also covered with a referral from your doctor.

All patients under the age of 19 years old and over the age of 64 are fully covered for comprehensive eye examinations, office visits, urgent care, dilations, and visual field testing if they have Alberta Health Care coverage.

Patients with Diabetes or Glaucoma, regardless of age, are eligible for yearly examination to monitor these conditions.

Patients with a referral from their physician also have full coverage for the services requested through their Alberta Health Care coverage.

Uninsured service fees:

Comprehensive Eye Exam: $85 (includes check up for glaucoma, cataract, macular degeneration, eye pressure, and a glasses prescription)

As of January 1, 2012 comprehensive exams will be $95

Contact lens evaluation: $40 (one time charge, includes all needed trial lenses and all required follow up visits; credit given with purchace of one year supply of contact lenses)

Multifocal/Bifocal contact lens fitting: $60 (one time charge, includes all needed trial lenses and all required follow up visits; $40 credit given with purchace of one year supply of contact lenses)

First time contact lens wearer training is an additional $30 (plan on around 30 minutes extra for insertion and removal training; includes starter case and solution)

Form Completion: $10 (for drivers forms ; RCMP ; EPS ; NDT etc)

LASIK surgery pre-op and post-op package: $500 (includes all required visits and forms)

Farnsworth D-15 Color Vision Testing: $50 (Required for some police and occupational vision requirement applications)

After LASIK Night Vision / Contrast Sensitivity Testing: $50 (an EPS application requirement)

Punctal Occlusion:  Temporary plugs (last 8-12 months) $85 / Permanent plugs  $150

(We are unable to direct bill for Sun Life and Manulife, we can provide duplicate receipts and help prepare all forms)
