Owner / Optometrist
Dr. Aaron Patel has practiced primary eye care optometry for over fifteen years. He has been an optometrist in Edmonton for twelve years and previously practiced in Portland, Oregon and Washington, D.C. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor or Science in 1997 and Pacific University College of Optometry with distinction in 2002. Dr. Patel practiced in several different optometry clinics prior to opening the Alberta Eye Health Clinic in 2006. These included a Lasik center, a pediatric eye care clinic and a hospital setting. Dr. Patel is very happy to see new patients with any type of eye health or vision concerns and has a special interest in helping people suffering with dry eyes.
Dr. Patel continually exceeds the yearly Alberta College of Optometrists' education requirements in order to deliver his patients the most up to date care possible. After completing his role as the past president of the Alberta Association of Optometrists this year, he will be remaining on council as the Alberta representative for the Canadian Association of Optometrists. Dr. Patel enjoys taking yearly humanitarian visits to provide eye care in less fortunate countries. These include: Honduras, Costa Rica, Peru, Belize and multiple trips to Jamaica. He and his wife just completed their first eye care trip together to the Philippines in March and will be heading to Kenya in 2017.
Current Eye Clinics
Dr. Rajan Mistry, known as Dr. Raj to his patients, was born in Regina, SK. He spent most of his life in Edmonton before attending the University of Waterloo for both his undergraduate and Optometry degrees. During his schooling, he practiced in a variety of different settings, including hospitals in Oklahoma and optometry clinics in Australia, and has had the fortune of providing eye care in less fortunate areas by going on a mission eye care trip to Peru. He has been an optometrist in Edmonton, practicing at the Alberta Eye Health Clinic and St. Albert Optometrist Clinic, for over a year.
When he's not spending his days talking with his patients (and he loves to chat), he spends his time trying to learn guitar and piano, or with his head buried in the newest computers on the market. He plays frisbee and squash on a regular basis, and during the dreaded Edmonton winters can be seen wobbling on a pair of skis as he stares down the bunny hills.
