Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an established medical imaging technique that uses light to capture micrometer-resolution, three-dimensional images from within optical scattering media (e.g., biological tissue)
Advanced OCT Testing:
Technology has substantially improved our ability to provide you with the most advanced eye care. This testing includes an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scan of your retina and optic nerve heads. The scan produces a 3D image of these structures and allows us to see more than is possible using standard examination techniques. These precise measurements can allow us to detect progressive eye diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration years earlier. The software also compares your results with the age-matched general population to detect subtle eye disease. Your doctor will review and explain the results of the test with you during your exam. This testing uses near infrared light scanning and does not carry any risk or harm to your eyes.
